The Girl Who Fell From the Sky (舞い降りた少女 Maiorita shōjo) is the first volume of the To Love-Ru series written by Hasemi Saki. The Girl Who Fell From the Sky was released in Tankōbon format November 2nd 2006 in Japan. The series was published in Weekly Shōnen Jump from August 24th, 2006 to August 31st, 2009.

Summary[]

Rito Yuuki, tries to confess to Haruna Sairenji the girl of his dreams, only to fail once again. After coming home and sulking in the bathtub, an alien, nude, girl named Lala appears out of nowhere. She comes from the planet Deviluke, where she is the heir to the throne. Her father wants her to return to her home planet so she can marry one of the husband candidates. But she decides that she wants to marry Rito in order to stay on Earth. Zastin has been ordered to bring Lala back, but approves Rito. He reports to the king that Rito would be suited to marry Lala, after hearing Rito, who was actually defending himself instead of Lala, say that marriage is impossible unless it is with the person you love. Lala truly falls in love with Rito and decides that she wants to marry Rito after hearing what he said. Her father decides that, if Rito is able to protect Lala from her fiancés, then he can marry her. However, if Rito cannot protect Lala from her other fiancés and meet the king's expectations, Lala's father will kill Rito and destroy the Earth.

Chapter 01: The Girl Who Fell From the Sky[]

Rito Yuuki planned to confess his love to Haruna Sairenji. However, during an attempt, he was not brave enough to confess, and ended up hiding in one of the bushes. After Rito gets home, he calls his friend Kenichi Saruyama, who isn't surprised how pathetic Rito still is around girls and advises him to be more immune around them. Later in the bath, then suddenly a naked girl suddenly appears in the bathtub out of no where, which startles and scares Rito out of the bath.

In his bedroom, the girl introduced herself as Lala, and that she came from Planet Deviluke. Rito asks if she's an alien, to which she affirms, then turns around and reveals a long black tail by the base of her back and has a spade-shaped end. Lala explains that she appeared in his bathtub because of her bracelet, Pyon-Pyon Warp-Kun. Suddenly, Maul and Smutts appear and try to take Lala away by force. Rito reluctantly tries to help her escape out the window. Lala then turns around and activates one of her Mechas to stop them from chasing her, which malfunctions and causes a lot of trouble.

The next day, Rito is greeted by Haruna, who was standing by the road Rito is walking on. Rito sees it as a perfect chance to finally confess. Rito is blushing extremely and stammers to confess, so he closes his eyes and shouts his confession. However, at the same moment, Lala drops in front of Rito, and Rito's confession accidentally gets directed to her. Lala responds positively and says that she feels the same way. She then asks Rito to marry her, which surprised Rito.

Meanwhile, in a spaceship outside Earth, the men that were defeated by Lala reported to their leader, Zastin. He then states that since the men were unable to handle Lala by themselves, then he shall personally go to Earth next.

Chapter 02: Great Escape of Love[]

Rito is in class, thinking about his accidental confession to Lala. While Rito is trying to find Haruna to explain the whole miscommunication between him and Lala, Lala is searching for Rito in his school. When Lala claims to be Rito's bride in front of most of the male students, it causes an uproar. While they are being chased my the jealous mob, Lala uses her "Pyon-Pyon Warp-Kun" device to teleport them, naked, into a locker in the girl's changing room right next to Haruna. Misunderstanding the entire situation, Haruna slaps Rito and runs off. Back at home, Lala tries to cheer up a devastated Rito. Meanwhile, Zastin is being taken to the police station, because the officer thinks he is crazy dues to wearing his alien armor, and the fact that he claims to be from Deviluke.

Chapter 03: A Messenger from the Galaxy[]

Rito and Lala sit near a river. Rito tries to explain to Lala that he doesn't want to marry her, and that it is not OK for her to live at his house. However, Lala disregards everything that he says, because she is bent on marry Rito, so she doesn't have to meet any more fiancé candidates. Then, Zastin arrives to bring Lala back home, and starts to fight with Rito, thinking he is what's keeping her on Earth. While trying to attack Rito, Zastin is hit by a car and train. Zastin and Lala then get into an argument about her returning to Deviluke. Rito then interrupts, claiming that marriage is not possible if it's with someone they don't like. But much to Rito's dismay, Lala and Zastin misunderstand and are both touched by this remark, and Lala actually falls in love with Rito. Zastin takes what Rito says into consideration, and believes that he is truly worthy of being Lala's husband. With that, Zastin goes back to report to the king of Deviluke.

Chapter 04: After School Memory[]

The next morning, Rito wakes up to find Lala sleeping in his bed. Rito's sister, Mikan Yuuki, walks in to see Lala in Rito's bed naked, then indifferently leaves room. Rito then walks to school, reflecting on how Haruna probably hates him. At school, Rito finds that he shares class duties with Haruna today. While cleaning the chalkboard, the situation is tense between Rito and Haruna. However, Haruna then tells Rito that she thinks he is a very kind person. Haruna is then embarrassed by her confession to Rito and goes to take out the garbage, but trips. Rito grabs her to stop her from falling, and she thanks him. Rito feels much more confident. However, the next day Lala transfers into Rito's class.

Chapter 05: Approach[]

Zastin and his assistants sit watching as a ship approaches the Earth.

Meanwhile, Lala is the talk of all of the male students, who are envious of Rito, for rumor has it that they are living together. Rito then takes Lala out to the roof to yell at her for transferring into the school, and tells her not to do anything suspicious. As a class representative, Haruna is then put in charge of showing Lala around the school. Lala talks to Haruna about love, admitting that she has recently fallen in love with someone (Rito). Lala is then sidetracked when a baseball lands near them. She then goes and takes a pitch from the school's star pitcher. However, having enormous strength, Lala crushes the ball far out of the field. When the pitcher, Taizou Motemitsu, asks Lala out, she immediately rejects him. He then challenges her to try and hit his next pitch, and if she misses, she has to go out with him. Lala agrees, but has Rito hit in her place, giving him an enhanced bat that she invented. Rito crushes the ball, but due to the force of the swing, he is thrown into the air. When Rito lands, he accidentally hits Zastin with the bat. Haruna then shows Lala to the tennis club, which she is a part of, and introduces her to the coach Sasuga.

Chapter 06: Targeted Girl[]

Sasuga acts somewhat suspicious while Haruna is explaining his career to Lala. Back at the Yuuki residence, Lala praises how delicious Mikan's food is. Zastin then takes Rito out to deliver a message to him from the King of Deviluke. Lala's father warns Rito that the whold galaxy is aware of Rito's existance, and he must protect Lala and defend himself from her many other fiancé candidates. If Rito should fail, the king will not only kill him, but destroy the Earth as well. Mikan then asks Rito when he will marry Lala, claiming that Lala can fit right in their house, because it's only the two of them.

The Next day at school, Sasuga then captures Haruna. When Haruna hasn't returned, Rito goes running out to look for her. He then receives a call from Sasuga, telling him he wants to meet him regarding Lala, and if Rito does not show up, Haruna will suffer the consequences, revealing that he has her tied up in the sports utility closet.

Chapter 07: Intruder from Outer Space[]

Rito makes it and demands to know what Sasuga is doing. It is then revealed that it is not the real Sasuga, but rather an alien, named Ghi Bree. Ghi Bree wants Rito to refrain from courting Lala, so that he may marry her. Rito refuses to let him marry Lala. Meanwhile, Lala is searching for Rito. Lala summons her invention "Sniff-Sniff Trace-Kun" to find Rito. 

Once again Ghi Bree demands an answer. Rito ponders his love for Haruna, but cannot allow Ghi Bree to marry Lala, or else Lala's father would destroy the Earth. Rito yells at him for his disrespect for girls. Lala then finds Rito and notices what Ghi Bree is doing to Haruna and tells him that she hates him. Ghi Bree then goes into his true form, which is much larger and looks more threatening.
