Motemitsu Taizō is a minor recurring character in the To Love-Ru series.

Appearance

Motemitsu has grey eyes and short spiky dark yellow hair, he is seemingly tall and good-looking. In To Love-Ru Darkness, his hair is now brighter, slightly longer and spikier.

Personality

Taizō is a wannabe playboy who constantly goes around flirting with girls, but despite that, he's still quite a loser. He is shown to have confidence in saying something bold while hitting on girls, but he seems to have horrible luck in doing so and gets depressed whenever it doesn't go his way.

He is also quite perverted as he was once suspended for two weeks for taking photos of the girls at the school swimming pool.

Plot

Motemitsu appears for the first time in chapter 5, where he asks Lala out on a date and she immediately rejects him.

His major role is in chapter 12 and 13 where he plan to take photos of the girls at the school swimming pool, but is stopped from Rito that mistake him for one of Lala' alien suitors.

After this, Motemitsu doesn't have a major role through out the series apart from mostly being used for humor, such as hitting on almost every new female character who makes her appearance but always gets rejected or ignored. He would always have followers who loudly praise his every bold flirting approaches and (humorously) also his every failures.

He has appeared three times in To Love-Ru Darkness, which was in chapters 28, 37 and 75.

Etymology

  • Motemitsu means "play with, tamper, trifle with" (弄) (mote) and "light" (光) (mitsu).
  • Taizō means "peaceful, calm, tranquil, easy, Thailand" (泰) (tai) and "three" (三) ().

Trivia

  • In one interview, Hasemi Saki and Yabuki Kentarō says that Motemitsu was supposted to be a recurring character, but his parts ended up always cut from the scripts.
